The TestAS (Test for Academic Studies) is a standardised aptitude test for international applicants who want to study at a German university. It is developed and administered by g.a.s.t. TestAS does not test subject knowledge; it measures general cognitive aptitude such as logical thinking, working memory, numerical reasoning, and pattern analysis, plus (in the Subject Module) your ability to work with material from your intended field. A good TestAS result can strengthen a university application or, at some institutions, is a required part of it. It also helps universities compare applicants whose school qualifications come from very different education systems.

Digital vs. Paper-Based: Two Formats, Same Skills
TestAS is offered in two formats. Both test the same underlying abilities and place the same demands on you, but the exact subtest composition, timing, and delivery method differ slightly. Presents multi-frame geometric sequence patterns governed by active transformation rules (clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation, scaling, mirroring, alternating shading, layer addition/subtraction). Evaluates visual processing speed and inductive reasoning.

3. Mathematical / Quantitative Reasoning
Tests quantitative problem-solving without calculators. Questions cover algebraic linear systems, quadratic relations, ratio word problems, numerical sequences, and rate calculations.

💡 Pacing Strategy for High Percentile Performance
- Rule of 60 Seconds: Allocate an average of 60 to 75 seconds per question in Core Module subtests. If a Latin Square grid stalls for over 90 seconds, flag it and make an educated guess.
